1/4 of daily laboratory work
is dominated by diligent tasks.
We found that lab work involves meticulous tasks and identified several potentials how we could enhance efficiency and streamline workflows to improve hands-free operation.

Objective
How can we streamline lab efficiency by
hands-free task management using smart glasses?

Unfold full process

Integration of intelligent management software.
“On average, laboratory staff state that around a quarter of their daily working time is spent on documenting their work.”

Automate evaluation performed by the human eye through the use of AI.
“As a newcomer, you're sometimes not sure whether a sample with a specific bacterium is cultivated or not.”

Record and document process sequences parallel to work.

Collaborative creation.
Gravity Sketch was used to quickly develop initial 3D models. This made it possible to rapidly assess whether the design maintained its minimalist aesthetic in three dimensions.

Presenting Nuvis
First lab glasses to overcome redundant tasks.
Everything processed automatically.
Two projectors cast an immersive image onto the glass's inner side, displaying task-relevant information supporting all laboratory functions through software integration.

Interact through gestures.
Build in front camera autofocus hand gestures to start recording footage, since the user wears gloves and is not always able to touch the side surfaces.

Comfortable head strap with integrated battery.
The headband adapts to various head shapes for comfort and enhances weight distribution with a rear-mounted, detachable battery pack.

Seamless glass integration.
The front shield integrates smoothly into the main housing matching the concave surfaces, while also accommodating prescription glasses underneath.
Your personal charging & data hub.
The glasses wirelessly connect to a hub, enabling diverse functionalities in a compact form, with the hub also serving as their charging station.

Nuvis – Lab work but autonomous.
Our vision glasses streamlines tasks like documenting procedures and managing inventory, with an immersive UI and seamless fitting of prescription glasses.
