Developing mechanical concepts.

Fast locking mechanism

High secure & vandal-proof

Scalable

Accelerate prototyping in
the real and spatial world.
Initial models were pre-build with cardboard to get the size right. Iterations took place in virtual space using Gravity Sketch to test idea even faster and design for a station that fits bicycle geometry.

Iterating on a closed frame design
The design exploration focused on creating a thin frame that elegantly encloses the lock element, blending harmoniously into public spaces while maintaining a robust appearance.

Combining CMF strategies
to enhance perceived trust.
To evoke stability, durability, and safety on first perception while integrating a color accent that reflects ABUS’s identity and induce fortitude.

Visual aesthetics.
The Frame with generous curves on an oval profile form with spanned outer surfaces integrates aesthetically into any cityscape.

Two sided.
The platform is build to park two bikes right next to each other and lock them individually. The rubber lip counters the bike to scratch.
Unlimitedly scaleable.
The extension of the base plates enables a flexible choice of installation location with minimum space requirements.

Self-Maintenance
wherever needed.
To address the lack of readily available maintenance in public a tool unit has been seamlessly integrated into the platform.
UrbanGuard – Where your bikes feels safe.
